01

Construction

Mistral was designed with thinness in mind. We had a vision for the overall appearance of the watch, and particularly, the soldered lugs — however, it wouldn't be possible to maintain the thinness and water resistance with a traditional construction, so we went back to the drawing board. We came up with an innovative shell-style solution to address this, which hides all seams while allowing for intricate polishing of the filleted lug edges.

02

Movement

We knew from the very beginning that we wanted the movement inside of Mistral to be special. We based Calibre 2105 on the ETA 7001, a reliable workhorse movement, ensuring its long-term serviceability. We created several iterations of modified bridges and plates, and experimented with various coatings. Every change on the movement can affect the performance, so developing this calibre took over two years.

03

Dials

A lot of watches tend to lose depth in their dials in the quest for thinness. Mistral's dial is the opposite; it features five different pieces at three different heights, and features polished and brushed chamfers. The dial also features minimal branding, which highlights the main focal point, a reflective coated center panel, with 18k gold and silver on certain variants. Finally, a slightly domed and coated sapphire crystal enhances the dimensionality of the design without any unnecessary visual aberrations.

04

Straps

Mistral required more than just any old strap. Jean Rousseau, a maker with over 65 years of experience providing straps for Vacheron Constantin, FP Journe and the likes, were the perfect partners in developing a solution. We opted for supple goat leather with an alcantara lining for maximum comfort, and we crafted a custom tapered flat-padding profile that matches the width taper on the lugs.
